Hi, My Name Is Jane: How Females Are Described In Hollywood Scripts

After seeing @FemScriptIntros on Twitter, I was curious about the ways writers chose to introduce and describe their female characters. These words have significance because they represent one way Hollywood projects its standards of what is feminine to every consumer of film, TV, and ads. I decided to take those words and literally project them onto a silhouette of a person.

Data was extracted from @FemScriptIntros, parsed to remove stop words, and then masked onto an image using an open source Python library called wordcloud. The larger the word, the more often it was used across all descriptions.

Note: All names were changed to "JANE" by @FemScriptIntros.
